Mike & Mary Kehl have been following tractor pulling since the ’70s and after seeing the blown mini rods in action they were sold! They started realizing their dream in the 2017-2018 winter, a team came together and a mini rod was built that winter.
They came up with a theme for their tractor “spending our kids’ inheritance”. Their son and daughter are pictured as cartoons on the tractor chasing the money, the grandchildren have been added when they came along as well! Their mini rod was ready on time and they drove their rookie season in 2018 with the help of friends and pulling colleagues.
After 21 hooks in the NTPA regional competition, they ended up 5th in the championship in the 2018 season. With several top 5 finishes and 2nd place, they were chasing for their first win! With the experience of 2018, they went into the 2019 season with another 21 hooks, and achieving their first win in the 2019 season they learned a lot and got excited to see what 2020 had to offer.
Sadly COVID had other plans and all pulls except for 3 got canceled that season.
2021 has been their best season so far, with 3 wins and several top-five finishes they ended up 2nd in the NTPA Regional Championship with missing the 1st position by just ONE point. They sure are excited about this year’s season, with 25 hooks planned and about 12000 miles to travel we’re sure they are gonna perform great again!
